About

Moyo & McAteer Chartered Consulting Engineers was founded in 2021 by friends and former colleagues Nepson Moyo and Justin McAteer. Together they have 40 years of experience working across a diverse range of buildings, from small domestic work to large scale commercial projects, throughout the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and Zimbabwe. They keep abreast of the latest technological advancements in new build construction and materials which informs their design of lightweight and elegant structures, ensuring the client and project architect's concepts are realised and often enhanced. With climate change, choice of materials is paramount and environmental consideration is key to our ethos. A successful environmentally friendly project completed by Nepson Moyo was recently opened by HRH The Prince of Wales.

Nepson Moyo has been responsible for high end residential new builds and refurbishments, commercial and industrial multi-storey reinforced concrete and steel frame designs, residential and commercial timber framed buildings, barn conversions and deep basement design. He is particularly keen on the analysis, design and detailing of unique and bespoke structures. This often involves engineering art and innovation, with cost efficiency at the forefront.

In addition to new builds, Justin McAteer specialises in the appraisal, adaption and sensitive repair of historic buildings. He has worked on many iconic and award-winning historic building projects throughout the United Kingdom such as the Queen's House & Bell Tower at the Tower of London, the major refurbishment of the Long Wards at Sir Christopher Wren's Royal Hospital Chelsea and many more of our beautiful heritage assets. He is an appointed specialist consultant, Structures, to the Guildford Diocese Advisory Commitee (DAC) and has given talks on Structural Engineering in Conservation for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB). Justin completed a Master of Science in the Conservation of Historic Buildings at the University of Bath in 2011 and he is also a SPAB Lethaby Scholar.
